Conference Travel Requests

Students who are presenting at a conference outside of the Athens area can apply for funding to offset their travel expenses. GREP is able to spend half of its allocated budget supporting student conference travel up to a maximum of $100 per student per year. The typical amount per student per conference is usually about $25-$50.

In order to apply for travel funding through GREP, students must obtain a student travel package from Student Services in 122 Aderhold Hall. The "Request for Authorty for Student Travel" form must be submitted to the GREP President by September 30 for Fall travel and January 31 for Spring travel (see sample below). GREP does not support Summer conference travel.

Upon returning from the conference, students must complete the remaining forms (see samples below).

Any student who requests funding from GREP, but does not complete the remaining forms by the end of the semester that their travel occurred, will lose that funding and will not be eligible for funding for the remainder of that academic year or the following academic year.

In addition to GREP funding, the Instructional Technology Student Association also provide funding for student conference travel for students in the IDD, LDT, and School Library Media concentration areas.

Outside of the Department of Educational Psychology, there are a number of other sources of funding that students can apply for. The College of Education through the Associate Dean for Research, Technology & External Affairs povides Graduate Student Travel grants. Deadlines are September 1, December 1, March 1, and June 1.

Students who have completed at least two (2) years of full-time graduate study at UGA with no grades of "Incomplete" or "No Report", are also eligible for travel support from the Graduate School. Deadlnes are September 15, December 15, March 15, and June 1.

Finally, if the conference that you are attending is outside of the United States, you are also eligible for apply for funding from the Office of the Vice President for Research. Deadlines are October 15, January 15, March 15, and June 15.
